I just bought a new Sharp LC60-LE650U (Friday delivery). It will be connected to a Boston Acoustics TVee model 30 and a older Sony BDP-BX1 BR player. The player seems to be fine although it does take some time to load a disc. We watch a mix of BR and DVD. This BR player has never been updated. Is this BR player any good or is it time for an upgrade? Would I see much of a difference in PQ? My budget would be $200 or less. I am planning on getting the Disney WOW disc to calibrate the TV.
If you're not having any issues with your Sony, why upgrade? The PQ difference between your current player and a new BDP would be non existent. Newer players do start faster, and have a boatload of apps, but other than that, the playback functionality is still the same. You might want to update the firmware on your BX1 if it has never been updated...
